We take a short rest. We go to a nearby tavern and grab drinks. Quentin takes his mask off and we see his face. There is a claw slash across half his face. One of his eyes is damaged. The hair where the slash is has turned white. The wound was something from an animal that is the size between a panther and a large bear. The scars are like 1 or 2 years old.
He says that they were from a subject getting loose. He says it was poor lab practices. He studies magical creatures that can be used as ingredients or reagents in potion making.
Go check out the houses that were hit. Interview the owners.
We are only able to speak to one of the victims (turlar) and one of the head of house of the hillingham. We are turned away at the chamberlains.
Hillingham: they were at the theater in box seats.
Torlars: halfling family. They are the ones with the squirrel items. They are brewers by trade. They were in one of the front boxes in the front row. They were robbed while they were at the play. The runic squirrels were out in the open. Everything that was stolen was out in the open.
Antimony jokes about the troop acting as vampires and not actually being real vampires as they need to be invited in. But vampires can find loose interpretations around it. The Torlars were one of the first victims so they do not remember what was said before the show. The doors and windows were locked. They take us to the back door of the kitchen. The lock was picked with a moderate skill level, not forced open.
We plan to stake out the theater. Belvedere is in the cobbler store to who the well off families are that go to the show. She recognizes Mr Pepper Oatbee (gnome) and Wellsley Lager (dwarf). She knows them from parties and knows where they live.
Antimony is hiding in the back around the trash. She sees some people take out some trash or come out and smoke. When Antimony thinks intermission is a out to end, she sees 3 people come out of the back. I recognize one from the playbill. He is one of the mythic mask actors that plays a supporting role (one of the animals). They have their cloaks on and are moving on purpose.
We are heading west out of abdar’s promenade and toward’s cloudtop district. As they travel through the central district, Antimony notices that they start bearing more south, which is towards the erudite quarter. Which is where the alabaster lyceum and the university. They have picked up pace some.
Antimony asks poorer stealth quentin to go away. He falls back to go with marigold.
They are clearly spooked by having been followed. She sees them duck into a narrow shaded alley.
