We head to Professor Popip Wobbletop. The dean offers to escort us to his office.
Dean opens the door by using a spell slot on a crystal on the side of the door.
There is a crystal up in the ceiling - scrying orbs that can be used to look into the hallways.
Professor Popip Wobbletop
A gnome that looks like Doc Brown. He has a very chaotic office and is intensely reading through scrolls.
Drawings that look like the transformed Bramblewood. There’s planar diagrams and their borders between them, particularly the elemental planes.
We tell him we are there on bahalf of the Pansophical Arcanum and begin questioning him.
He left around 9-10pm that night. He last saw the cube at 4pm. The cube then was discovered to be missing the next day.
We request a list of the students. There are 6 graduate level students.
He has not tried to use the cube to look into a building. It cannot be used to look on the prime material plane. Nothing has reacted to the scrying of the cube.
He doesn’t think any of his students could have done this. Any of the other professors could have access to the lab.
Basement has 4 labs, each with a gem right next to their doors. There’s small ground level windows next to the stairs.
Cleaning crews cannot get into the labs.
When then start penetration testing.
The room has a pillar in the middle of the room where the cube would go. There are curved benches and writing desks around the pillar. No storage or anywhere to hide.
The door is air tight, no tiny holes that someone could gaseous form.
When someone has the door open to leave, others cannot enter. Unseen servant can get past the barrier but familiar and others cannot.
The familiar cannot get through the barrier
His lecture that day was 2 hours and 12 minutes.
No visiting professors in the past 2 semesters that have had any interest in the cube.
Professor Lightweaver has been pushing for more funding. He teaches evocation. They don’t interact much but Prof Lightweaver is very aggressive. Professor Lightweaver has the lab next door.
We check the basement windows and can see through them.
Brynn Stormshield is in charge of security.
We tell the professor to let us know if anyone is asking about the cube.
We decide to go talk to Brynn Stormshield. A dwarven woman with a neatly trimmed beard and brown hair braided.
The labs change hands from time to time. The walls are magically fortified to contain explosions.
Brynn Stormshield said she doesn’t believe that dimension door will work and will ask a professor to test it.
She goes to show us how the scrying orbs work. It is a grid of different orbs labeled base on building number, floor, and cardinal direction.
She isn’t an investigator and found out about the theft after Rex got there.

We stop by the Dean before we leave to request spell scrolls, list of Professors and list of prof wobbletop’s grad students, and the ability to interview them. Let us know if any of the students are on financial aid.
We then go to the theater to question people there. It is mid to late afternoon
We arrive at the Talisman Theater. Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story is playing and has been playing for 3 weeks. 5g per seat in box. Combination of inhouse and traveling actors. The seating arrangements has 4 box seats. There are 4 seats available among them. Show is from 8 to 11pm w/ 30 min intermission.
We get a playbill. A young man and an out of town woman that is a vampire. He tries to take care of her and they fall in love.
3/4 of the actors are from a troupe: The Mythic Masks. It is unusual for a weeknight play to be starting this late.
We pay the cobbler shop across the street from the theater 2g so that they will stay open until 8pm so we can use the shop to stakeout the theater.
We decide to go grab food before the stakeout. While going to get food, we see low fog coming out of an alleyway. We run over to investigate. It is coming from the storm drains.
A glowing red figure shoots out of the drain and is flying just above our heads. It glows as if its body is made of magma. It looks like an imp. 3 more figures of the same shape come out. They are smokey and not glowing. We fight smoke-mephit and Magma Mephit
